| Mountain Man Throwing Competition Bowie Style Knives These Bowie knives are 12 3/4+" long with black buffalo hide leather handle grips. They weigh between 11oz. and 14 oz. and are a dog hair under 3/16" thick I make these knives for competition throwing at Mountain Man Rendezvous. They are not shiny for show and they are as dull as a stump They could be sharpened but why mess with a good throwing Bowie? I also put a hammer butt on the back end of the handle for those who have not completely mastered the art of the Bowie Toss. Because of the Hammer Butt, they make very good training knives for beginners. The Handle is covered with black leather that is screwed and glued in place and can be replaced. The metal is finished with "Plum Brown Barrel Finish" OR "Gunmetal Blue"and looks very period authentic. They also need a little oil now and again. I make them out of old Chain Saw Bars and it seems to be hard enough but not too hard. The way I tested these is to let three burly young gents in their early twenties, practice with them for an entire rendezvous. They didn't know how to throw when it started but by the end of the week they all were getting about nine out of ten sticks and the knives had a very good work-out with no bend-break-damage on any of them! Price: $35 ea., 2 for $65 3 for $95 4 for $125 Delivered. NO S&H If you want a set, tell me there to be a set AND I WILL MATCH THEM AS BEST I CAN. Scabbards are available for them in our Leather Section email: order@ir2k.com <-The hammer butt protects the grip leather. |
